Youth Leadership

Our Purpose

Vision

To become the unifying youth organization promoting and supporting philanthropy in the Greater Sandpoint community.

Mission

To instill a lifelong ethic of community service for emerging leaders in an effort to build better communities in the Greater Sandpoint area.

Program

Overview

Sandpoint is a dynamic community.  This energy and constant reshaping presents many challenges and opportunities for the citizens of Sandpoint.  Keeping our community vibrant and healthy requires insightful leaders who have the ability to communicate and work effectively with a wide variety of groups.  Youth Leadership is a program designed to facilitate the development and growth of the leaders of tomorrow and provides opportunity to interact with community members as the class explores community issues.

Applying

Registration for the 2008/09 program is available to rising sophomores and juniors residing in Bonner County.  Click here for a registration form and submit by June 30, 2008.

Tuition

$200 (includes class sessions, meals, materials, and group transportation from respective schools)

*Students can also seek businesses to sponsor their participation in the program.  Email amy@sandpointchamber.com for more info.

Attendance

Youth Leadership consists of eight interactive sessions.  Participants are expected to attend all sessions and must not miss more than two classes in order to graduate.

Commitment

Each participant will attend the sessions the first year and organize with their classmates a community project.  They are also responsible for volunteering at a nonprofit organization/s for 25 hours.  After graduation students will be asked to coordinate the next year's class.
